Change Your Internal Dialogue

There’s a lot of unpleasantness happening in my environment right now. And, I am very aware that I can take myself to a negative place when that happens.  Today, I noticed my inner dialogue and outer dialogue and decided that I didn’t like either.  So, from this moment, I am changing the dialogue (working on it!).  Negative speak is just not fun.  It’s not productive, creative, interesting, or juicy.  It doesn’t live in possibilities.  It lives in restriction and lack.  Who needs that?  I know I don’t.  It’s not what I want to invite in.  I want to invite in abundance in every shape, form, color, wording, belief, and sense of myself.  There is such power in making a choice to turn around your negative inner and outer talk.  Whatever is happening in your life isn’t gone.  It simply doesn’t own you. You aren’t a victim of it.  You get to create a different perspective that expands your life force.  And, you open yourself up to possibilities and real results.  You also sleep better, feel better, and perform better.

How do you make this change?

  • First – notice from where you sense your frame of mind or the words you are speaking. Do you notice it in your body? Do you notice it in your thoughts? Do you notice it in your energy?
  • Second – decide how you want to be, what you want to think and say, and what you want to do so that you produce a different outcome. Do you want to be at ease, in the flow, relaxed, or expansive? Do you want to think and say words that have meaning to your life, open up positive dialogue, send love to your body, mind, and spirit – and to others in your life? Do you want to focus on activities that are purposeful, productive, creative, that give you joy and give you a sense of accomplishment?
  • Third – take action. A great place to start is to journal in the am and pm. In your journal write what thoughts you are noticing and see what thoughts you want to shift. Top it all off with words of gratitude – even if it’s about being grateful that you are taking time to notice what gets you off center. Deepen or start your meditation and mindfulness practice. This is one of the greatest gifts you can give to yourself. Through your practice you bring together your body, mind, and spirit consciousness. Your awareness is heightened and you can more easily perceive your energy and thoughts in any given moment.
  • Lastly – choose what you will shift and do it. You may find, as I do, that you shift in and out for a time. That’s fine. You’re only human, after all. The more you practice the easier it becomes to notice what is not working for you and to make a different choice for a happier life.
